birdz

october 16, 2023

This piece was my third, and my latest, sonata that I have written.  I had just finished my second semester in college, thus wrapping up my year as a freshman.  When I came home, I was quick to realize that you could hear so many birds outside from where I lived!  You could pick out at least eight different birdsongs being sung all at once at any time during the day.

I recalled my mom's fascination with birds when I would listen to them chirp outside, and we also had plenty of bird related decorations inside our home.  So it was made apparent by fate that I had to write a piece about birds!

I spent the entirety of the summer writing it, trying to fully capture the composition's fun and carefree nature, while also recreating the sounds of birds soaring through the sky on the piano.  I attempted to capture the sounds of the birds chirping and singing songs, the sounds of their wings gliding in the air (most likely performing somersaults and doing all sorts of tricks), and the feeling of clouds quickly passing by below their beaks.

This would become my song of vibrancy!
